CAF Suffolk Chapter’s 50th Annual Gift of Life Ball on June 13

April 5, 2019 – The CAF Suffolk Chapter invites all to the 50th Annual Gift of Life Ball on the evening of June 13 at Villa Lombardi’s in Holbrook, NY. Please join us as we honor our 2019 Humanitarian of the Year, Mr. Joe Magri, President of J.F.M. Sheet Metal, Inc.

Joe has been a committee member of the Gift of Life Ball for over 10 years.  His commitment to the Foundation is evident by his participation in all of our fundraising events from our January Lunch & Putt to our November Night at the Races.

Joe is no stranger to Cooley’s anemia.  He had a cousin, Francine Cavelleri, who died in her teen years due to this devastating blood disorder.

Joe was born in Utica, NY to Frank and Lillian Magri, nee Imperia.  After he was born, his mother and father moved to Graves End, Brooklyn with Joe, his sister Lillian, and brother Frank.   When he was 9, his family moved to Plainview.  Joe was an outstanding athlete at Plainview High School, participating in baseball and football.  As a teenager, he became an avid skier and bowler. Today his recreation is golf, swimming and bowling.

After high school, Joe went to work for a sheet metal company.  He was with them for six years when a downturn occurred in the construction industry.  When he got laid off he decided to open his own sheet metal company.  No one can ever say Joe lacked confidence in himself or determination to succeed.  His fledgling company had himself and one employee.  Through perseverance, dedication, and determination, he built the company.  Today he has his own building in Ronkonkoma and produces duct work for office buildings in New York City.

Joe met his wife Patti when she worked in a bank.  He made a point of going three times a week just to see her and get to know her.  They have five children; Jessica in Tennessee, Melissa in Nesconset, Grace in Brooklyn Heights, Kelsey in Long Beach and Ashley in Virginia.  If you ask him about the children and seven grandchildren, prepare for a long description of their attributes.

Joe is also involved with St. Jude Hospital and the Brosia Foundation. It is an honor and privilege to present Joe Magri, the Suffolk Chapter’s Man of the Year 2019.
