World Blood Donor Day – June 14

June 9, 2020 – World Blood Donor Day is commemorated each June 14th in order to celebrate and thank blood donors, and to encourage more people to begin donating blood. This special day also helps to raise public awareness about the ongoing need for safe blood and lets people know how they can contribute.

Many individuals with thalassemia require ongoing blood transfusions in order to stay alive. Their lives therefore depend on the continued generosity of blood donors.

Blood donors are needed now more than ever since many U.S. blood drives have been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. If you would like to donate blood to help refill the U.S. blood banks, you can find your nearest blood donation center at: aabb.org/donateblood

CAF wishes to thank everyone who has ever donated blood, which has provided our patients with access to life-saving blood whenever they have needed it.
