'Tis the Season to Be Freezin' for a Reason
January 7, 2010 – On March 12, hundreds of hardy souls will get out their swim trunks and get into some icy waters to raise funds for thalassemia.
Yes, it’s getting to be that most wonderful time of year, the time of the New Jersey Elks’ “Miracle Plunge IV: Freezin’ for a Reason.” This annual benefit for the Cooley’s Anemia Foundation and the Elks’ Camp Moore, which has raised a combined total of $180,000 for these two charities over three years, is all set for 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 5th Avenue and Ocean in Belmar, NJ.

You can be a part of this great event – either by being one of the plungers who show their dedication to these charities by splashing around in the water or by sponsoring them in their efforts. If you visit www.firstgiving.com/miracleplunge, you can get more information about becoming a plunger OR about how to sponsor someone who is also going to take the plunge.
A post-Plunge reception with food, refreshments and an auction will be hosted by Manasquan Lodge, corner of Route 71 South and Stockton Blvd. at the railroad tracks, starting at 1:00 p.m. and running until everyone is warm again. All Plungers receive two complimentary invitations; tickets will be available at the door for $15.00.
The Miracle Plunge has become a great way to both raise awareness of thalassemia and raise funds for CAF. We hope you will help to make this year’s event a huge success, either as a participant or a sponsor. (Click on the video below to see clips from a previous Plunge.)
CAF is grateful to the New Jersey Elks for their continued involvement with us in the fight against thalassemia. Their dedication to helping all those born with this disorder is greatly appreciated and we thank them for their willingness to organize this very special event.
