Time to "Let Your Heart Dance" on February 12

January 11, 2010 – Nothing impresses and delights a valentine (or even just your good friends) more than getting the chance to “Let Your Heart Dance,” the always-anticipated festivity (“dinner dance” in no way does it justice) that will be held this year on Saturday, February 12, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Staten Island, NY.

Sponsored by the Staten Island and New Jersey chapters of CAF, this is truly a special evening, one of those rare events that people happily clear their calendars for.

It starts off at 7:30 p.m. with one of the most memorable cocktail receptions imaginable. The top shelf open bar is perhaps to be expected, but the food stations, filled with a dazzling array of appetizers that are practically a meal in themselves, are a special treat. And when you add in sprightly conversation with your friends, you have the perfect start to a perfect evening.

Things only get better as you make your way to the dining room at 8:30, because the quality of the food is matched by the quality of the music. Even those who don’t normally dance, who wouldn’t DREAM of dancing, find their feet moving of their own accord out onto the dance floor. The rhythm is going to get you, so you might as well give in; you’re among friends and everybody wants to see everyone else’s moves.

Of course, in between courses and cutting up on the floor, there are plenty of opportunities to participate in raffles and auctions to further benefit CAF’s excellent work in the fight against thalassemia.

The “Let Your Heart Dance” also features another tradition: its “Let Your Heart Share Journal,” a beautiful publication in which you can place special ads – inspirational words, messages to loved ones, favorite quotes, poems, prayers, lines from a favorite song, etc. It’s a lovely way to say “I cherish you,” to recognize/honor a special someone, to share your personal outlook on life. (For more information, click here.)

Tickets for the “Let Your Heart Dance” are $115 per person. You can purchase individual tickets or a full table of twelve people. Please note that no ticket money can be taken at the door and that you need to RSVP by January 20 to Frank or Deborah Somma, ANGELS1606@AOL.COM, or mail checks (made out to Cooley’s Anemia Foundation) to Frank Somma, 27 Schanck Road, Holmdel, NJ 07733. Also, the Hilton Garden Inn (1100 South Avenue in Staten Island; 718-477-2400) has held a number of rooms for this event at a discounted price of $139. If you would like to book a room for that night, call and tell them you are with the Cooley’s Anemia Foundation.

Don’t wait – get that reservation in now so that your Valentine’s weekend will be complete!
