Thalassemia Day at Arizona Diamondbacks Baseball Game

July 8, 2010 – The Diamondbacks, Arizona’s National League baseball team, want to help strike out thalassemia.

On Saturday, August 7, 2010, the Diamondbacks will play against the San Diego Padres at Chase Field in Phoenix. A portion of proceeds from all seats purchased through a special arrangement with Arizona’s thalassemia families will be donated to CAF to help in the fight against thalassemia.

These seats are in the Upper Infield Reserve section and cost $13.00 each (a discount from the regular $15.00 price for this section). The deadline for purchasing these tickets is Tuesday, July 27. You can download an order form by clicking here.

Luiz Gonzalez

Making this day even more special, the Diamondbacks have announced that they will retire the uniform number (#20) won by Luis Gonzalez, a former outfielder, at a pre-game ceremony. This marks the first time that a Diamondbacks player’s number has been retired. Gonzalez, who played for the team from 1999-2006, is the franchise’s all-time leader in nearly every offensive category. The first 15,000 fans entering Chase Field on August 7 will receive a Luis Gonzalez bobblehead figure.

Want to help even more? Help spread the word about this special event to your family, friends, colleagues, etc. If you think it would help to have a flyer with your own name as contact, please let Antoni Foe know (afsf@cox.net).
