Patient Receives Award from Blood Service
October 14, 2008 – Gracie Scollo of Brooklyn was recently presented with a special award from New York Blood Center in appreciation of her outstanding efforts to increase both blood donations and awareness of the need for blood donations.
This 2007 Pacesetter Award recognizes the bi-monthly blood drives that Gracie has been organizing f
or years at pizzerias owned by her brother and her nephew. The results of these dives are very impressive, with 50-60 units typically collected at individual dives held at her brother’s restaurant and 80-100 units typically collected at individual drives at her nephew’s restaurant.
CAF congratulates Gracie on this well-deserved acknowledgement of her dedication and spirit. With hundreds of units collected annually through her efforts, it demonstrates once again how one individual can make a tremendous difference.
