Donate to CAF Now and Your Gift Will Be Matched
August 4, 2010 – The Board of Directors of CAF will match any donations made to CAF between now and September 15, 2010 – which means the money you donate will do TWICE as much good.
In a letter, CAF Vice President Amy Celento writes:

We have the chance to give a significant boost to the fight against thalassemia, but we need your help now. The CAF Board of Directors has issued a challenge: they personally will match any donations made between now and September 15th, 2010. That means that if you contribute $100, we can double that amount to $200 to fight thalassemia.
Let me be very blunt: we desperately need these contributions. Because of the slow economy, our funding levels have dropped drastically. We have been forced to cut staff and services and have even had to reduce the amount we spend on vital medical research. This is bad news for everyone trying to meet the challenges of living with thalassemia, including:
· Parents of newly diagnosed babies who need someone to talk to about thalassemia, someone who can tell them what they need to know and give them hope;
· Children with thalassemia who are struggling with feeling “different” and who need help adjusting to a lifetime of transfusions and treatments;
· Teen-agers with thalassemia who are trying their best to keep up with their peers, even though they have to receive blood transfusions every two weeks to stay alive;
· Young adults with thalassemia who have to face the difficulties of adulthood
