Care Walk 2020 Rescheduled to September 20
March 31, 2020 – Due to the ongoing situation concerning COVID-19, the Cooley’s Anemia Foundation will be rescheduling the 2020 Care Walk from May 3 to September 20. We regret the necessity of taking this step; however, we feel that given the fluidity and unpredictability of the current situation, it is in the best interests of all to make this change. Even if the bans on public gatherings are lifted in a relatively short time, we do not want to run the risk of anyone possibly contracting coronavirus from a Care Walk gathering. In addition, it will take people some time to set their lives back in order after this disruption and many will not be able to focus on activities like Care Walk or may not be in a position to support it in the manner that they would like, were we to stick to our original date.
While we do try to provide as much flexibility as possible for teams and individuals scheduling Care Walks, we request at this time that no one consider a Care Walk prior to September – again, for the safety of all involved. If circumstances change in the next few months, we will revisit whether some teams or individuals could schedule a Care Walk prior to the official September 20 date. We also will continue our Care Walk art contest and will extend the deadline for submissions until April 30.
Please know that we did not make this decision lightly. We value the importance of Care Walk to our community and hope that all of you will be able to stick with us and make our 2020 Care Walk in September the best ever!

National Executive Director
