CAF Plans Town Hall Meetings with Patients, Families
March 25, 2011 – CAF will be holding a series of “Town Hall Meetings” at several locations over the next few months in order to provide a more direct, face-to-face, two-way communication with patients and family members.
The focus of the meetings will be “Staying Healthy for a Cure.” These meetings are part of CAF’s ongoing dialogue with the thalassemia community concerning the importance of doing everything possible to maintain a healthy lifestyle, the barriers that keep patients and families from meeting this goal and what can be done to overcome those barriers.
The next meeting is scheduled to take place in the CAF offices in New York City (330 Seventh Avenue, #200) from 6:30-8:30 on Monday, April 11. Subsequent meetings will be held in Boston (April 21), Atlanta (May 3), Dallas (May 21) and Philadelphia (date to be determined); details concerning these future meetings will be posted at a later date.
CAF hopes that as many people as possible will attend to share their thoughts on this issue and to help the Foundation continue to develop programs to meet the needs of the community. These activities are supported by Cooperative Agreement Number DD000331-02 from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
