CAF Patient-Family Conference Postponed Until July of 2021

April 1, 2020 – Due to the ongoing situation concerning COVID-19, the Cooley’s Anemia Foundation will be postponing the 2020 Patient-Family Conference in New Brunswick to July of 2021. We regret the necessity of taking this step; however, we feel that given the fluidity and unpredictability of the current situation, it is in the best interests of all to make this change. Even if the bans on public gatherings are lifted in a relatively short time, we do not want to run the risk of anyone possibly contracting coronavirus from attending our Conference. In addition, because many people would be traveling to the Conference and would need to make travel arrangements far in advance, we felt we needed to make this decision sooner rather than later. We considered moving the Conference to the fall, but felt that logistically this was problematic.

However, while we will not be able to hold an in-person Patient-Family Conference this year, we are making plans for a virtual mini-Conference so that we can still share vital information with the community. While we will miss the invaluable face-to-face communications, we believe this compromise will still enable members of the community to interact in a different but still meaningful manner.

Please know that we did not make this decision lightly. We know and appreciate the importance of our annual Conference to our community and hope that all of you will be able to join us online this summer and in person in 2021. We will let you know about plans for the online mini-Conference once they are firmed up.

Thank you, and please stay strong and healthy during this challenging time. Please do not hesitate to let us know how we can help you during this difficult period.
