CAF Celebrates International Thalassemia Day

May 8, 2020 – International Thalassemia Day is commemorated each May 8th in order to raise awareness about thalassemia. On this very special day for our community, we pause to remember our friends who are no longer with us. We also celebrate all patients who are trying to live their best lives while managing the demands of this chronic disease.

Every year, we select one patient to profile on International Thalassemia Day. This year, we are featuring Noor Altahafee– a patient with thalassemia intermedia who was born in Mosul, Iraq and who lived there for many years before immigrating to the U.S. We invite you to read about Noor’s journey with thalassemia here: https://www.cdc.gov/ncbddd/thalassemia/stories/noor-altahafee.html
