CAF Support for U.S. Patients Attending TIF Conference
July 27, 2017 – On November 17-19, 2017 the Thalassaemia International Federation will hold its 14th International Conference on Thalassaemia & Haemoglobinopathies and 16th TIF International Conference for Patients & Parents in Thessaloniki, Greece. The Cooley’s Anemia Foundation is pleased to make available a limited amount of funding for up to 10 U.S. thalassemia patients or parents of thalassemia patients to help defray some of the costs associated with traveling to and attending the Conference. Individuals interested in applying for this support should fill out the form which can be accessed here and return to cbutler@thalassemia.org (or fax to 212-279-5999) by August 10, 2017. Decisions on funding will be made by August 20, 2017. Please note that submission of this application form does not guarantee funding.
Recipients of support from the Cooley’s Anemia Foundation are responsible for registering for the Conference and completing all hotel and travel arrangements. Patients may wish to room with other patients in order to cut down on their hotel costs. The Foundation will request copies of receipts to verify expenses; any unused support provided by the Foundation should be returned to the Foundation.
Those selected to receive support are expected to attend three days of meetings (Nov. 17-19) unless health issues preclude full participation. Individuals with health issues should check with their doctors to determine what accommodations/ arrangements they may need to make in order to safely travel internationally.
