TIF Announces Winners of Video Challenge Contest
May 13, 2015 – The Thalassaemia International Federation (TIF) has announced the winners of its “Living with Thalassemia” Video Challenge Contest. Those winners are:
Winner of the First Prize – 500 USD
Marsha De Salvatore for the video “Comedy Therapy”
Description: The inspiring story of a patient and a stand-up comedian who talks about the importance of laughter in dealing with the hardships of this disease.
Winner of the Second Prize – 300 USD
Josephine Bila for the video “Thalassaemia or Not, We Are All Born Magnificent”
Description: Josephine Bila is an author, speaker, and life coach who shares her story about finding inner strength, courage and power to live as fully as possible in the hopes of inspiring others to think positively about their life.
Winner of the Third Prize – 200 USD
Shaheen Essani Rao for the video ” Zaid and His Signatures”
Description: This is a video of a thalassaemia major patient who passed away on 2 October 2013. This video comprises clips of different TV shows in which he was invited to participate as a motivational speaker.
For the contest, TIF had asked members of the thalassemia community to share videos about their experiences dealing with thalassemia. Participants were asked to upload a 2-5 minute video about experiences that made them feel good, hopeful or inspired. “By sharing stories,” states TIF’s website, “you can help create a virtual community where you can connect and gain support from others.”
