Registration Now Open for 2017 Patient-Family Conference

March 27, 2017 – Registration is now open for CAF’s 2017 Patient-Family Conference! This year’s Conference will be held from July 7-9 at the College Park Marriott Hotel and Conference in Hyattsville, MD. The 2017 Patient-Family Conference is a unique opportunity for U.S. individuals with thalassemia and their family members (parents, siblings, spouses, etc.) to meet other members of the community and learn important information that can have a positive impact on their health and their lives.

Visit the official registration website here: http://doc-events.com/meet/caf2017/. The agenda for the Conference can be downloaded by clicking here.

We will also be holding a special Patient-Focused Drug Development meeting on Friday, July 7 from 10am-3pm before the Conference begins. We encourage all patients and parents who are able to attend to join us for this meeting. This will be a chance for patients to talk about the medical issues related to thalassemia, the viability of current treatments, and the need for new or improved treatments for both thalassemia and complications related to thalassemia. We will be inviting representatives from the US Food and Drug Administration to observe this meeting, as well as representatives from the pharmaceutical industry. This is a unique opportunity for the thalassemia community to make its voice heard on this important issue.

There is no registration fee for U.S. patients, family members and health care providers attending the Conference. CAF is also pleased to make the Conference meals (Friday lunch and reception; Saturday breakfast, lunch and dinner; Sunday brunch) available free of charge to U.S. patients, family members and health care providers. Non-U.S. patients and families may attend at a rate of $400 per person; non-U.S. patients should contact Eileen Scott at CAF (Eileen.s@thalassemia.org.)

U.S. patients/family members who would like to attend the Conference but find travel expenses beyond their current means should contact Patient Services Manager Eileen Scott at Eileen.s@thalassemia.org.

CAF has also arranged a special hotel room rate of $124 (plus tax) per night at the College Park Marriott Hotel and Conference Center. The deadline to book hotel rooms at this special rate is June 16. CAF will be providing a complimentary shuttle service to the College Park Marriott Hotel and Conference Center from BWI and DCA airports. There is no planned transportation from train or bus stations.
