May 31, 2013 – CAF is proud to be part of the international thalassemia community and of the Thalassaemia International Federation (TIF).

While thalassemia affects a relatively small population here in the United States, its global impact is substantial: In some parts of the world, carrier rates can be astonishingly high, with some regions of India reporting rates as high as 40%.

TIF was officially founded in 1987 in order to develop and establish National Control Programs for the prevention and quality treatment of thalassaemia and other hemoglobin disorders in every affected country and in particular where frequency, incidence and prevalence of these disorders are high.
