CAF Welcomes New Staff Member

October 4, 2016CAF is happy to announce a new addition to our staff. Henry Ackermann joined us this week as our National Development Director.

Henry Ackermann

Henry Ackermann will be leading our national fundraising efforts by creating and implementing a new development plan with a vision for the Foundation’s short term and long term success. Henry will be taking charge of our annual Care Walk fundraiser, working with chapters and volunteers on their ackermannfundraising events,  and developing a major gifts program, among other initiatives.

Henry has been a development professional for more than twenty-five years, most recently as Chief Development Officer at Abbott House, a $50 million human services agency headquartered in Westchester County, New York.

He has extensive experience in reviewing and improving existing development operations, planning and executing capital and major gift campaigns, training high-level fundraising volunteers, and motivating boards and campaign committees.  Henry also has a demonstrated ability in coordinating fundraising, marketing, and public relations activities of not-for-profit organizations to significantly enhance fund raising results and media exposure.

Among his prior positions, Henry served as Vice President of Individual Giving at Covenant House, a $150 million non-profit agency serving homeless youth in 21 cities in six countries.  There he managed the activities of both the major gift and planned giving departments, raising  $6-9 million annually, with the largest single gift being $2.5 million.

Before that, Henry had been Assistant to the President at PIUS XII Youth and Family Services of New York, where he worked to raise and grow funds for the entire $23 million multi-site agency.  As senior team member, he worked on cultivation and solicitation for annual gifts and a $10 million capital campaign from the Board of Governors, individual donors, and corporations/foundations. He also managed annual dinners, golf tournaments, and major donor receptions.

He began his career as a high school social studies teacher, but moved into social work after spending several summers counseling juvenile delinquents.  He worked in various supervisory and administrative roles, before moving into the development field.  Henry holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Stonehill College.

CAF is excited to welcome Henry to our team! His expertise and enthusiasm make him a valuable addition to the CAF family.
