March 16, 2008 - CAF will honor Frank Comerford, the President and General Manager of WNBC-TV, as the Humanitarian of the Year for its 2008 Cigar Smoker on May 2.
Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Comerford graduated from Georgetown University in 1977 and began his association with the TV industry in 1981 with Storer Television Sales in New York City. He then worked at WSBK-TV in Boston before joining WNBC in 1994. He was appointed to his current position in 2002.
Mr. Comerford is very active in community service and serves on several charitable boards and committees, including the Child Abuse Prevention Program, the Association for a Better New York and the Archdiocese of New York Catholic Charity.
This year’s Cigar Smoker will again be held at the elegant Grand Havana Room, high atop Manhattan's famed 666 Fifth Avenue.
